Failed to determine external IP adress

Post by Wiziboulou »

I just downloaded Factorio from Steam, and tried playing multiplayer with a friend, but I got this error. I don't know what's causing it. I bypassed my firewall, forwarded the port 34197 (at least I think I did). I haven't found anything helpful on the internet about this.

I haven't played Factorio since it went on Steam, but I didn't have any problems playing MP before that.
Log
P.S.: I just noticed in the log that Factorio apparently loaded the FARL and RailTanker mods twice, but I don't think that has anything to do with my problem.

I think I'll take part to this conversation also. I've been played factorio some time now, and thought, in the group it could be even more fun!

I've familiar with port forwarding stuff, and set up necessary UDP:34197 forwarding to my router.

Here's part of my config file:

Code: Select all

[path]
read-data=__PATH__system-read-data__
write-data=__PATH__system-write-data__
[general]
locale=
[other]
tooltip_delay=0.0395000018
max_threads=8
force_default_logistic_filter_count_to_one=false
show_tips_and_tricks=false
autosort_inventory=true
research_finished_stops_game=false
use_item_groups=true
use_item_subgroups=true
output_console_delay=1200
autosave_interval=2
autosave_slots=10
enable_latency_hiding=false
enable_new_mods=true
port=34197
server_game_heartbeat_in_seconds=30
lan_game_heartbeat_in_seconds=2
use_version_filter_in_browse_games_gui=true
verbose-logging=false
minimum_latency_in_multiplayer=0
And here's factorio log after launching multiplayer game:

My IP address is correct there, and actually people can join on my server, when they connect directly with IP from "Connect to server"-option.

But why the hell it messes up the port, that it think server is running, if port is defined for 34197?

because the outgoing traffic is probably being NATed by your router. disable outgoing NAT if you can.
most SOHO routers suck for hosting any kind of server.
