[Solved] Game crashes at 2-10% loading from Steam (Logitech Quickcam related)

Post by Paxinox »

Hi guys, I love this game so much, and Ive been playing it some at a weak i5 computer at work, which runs great.

At home I got a 3000$ rig which Ive tried to run the game from, but it crashes no matter what I do.

Ive googled for hours, tried all kinds of launch-commands, tried updating and reinstalling Nvidia drivers, tried uninstalling Geforce Experience, but nothing works..

The weird thing is, the game never manages to create a config file, because it crashes before its able to, but Ive tried manually creating one with different suggestions by people suffering from CTD's

Image

Windows 7 64-bit
i7 5820k 3,3ghz,
16gb ddr3
SSD hdd
Nvidia GTX 970 with PhysX installed

Can someone help me out? :(

Try to set launch options in Factorio properties in Steam to --force-d3d

Hi, does it produce same log when you don't use --force-opengl? Try also --max-texture-size=4096
Do you have any mods installed?

yup, same log with any launch options, Ive done 8 reinstalls of this game, nothing helps..

No mods, its a fresh clean install through Steam.

In that case, can you try to find and post here Report.wer, please? It should be located in one of the folders starting with AppCrash_Factorio.exe_ in %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\
(for example C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_Factorio.exe_4c56fc92865f3fd3dc298cb35e6637026807e7d_5249c762_cab_412ac45a)

You can also try to delete file %appdata%\Factorio\crop-cache.dat

SOLVED!

Found the problem,

Logitech QuickCam gets loaded with the game for some reason,

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logishrd\LVMVFM\LVPrcInj.dll "

This file crashes Factorio, I had to uninstall Logitech Quickcam software to be able to boot the game.

It works now! :)
