Whenever I open the game and click multiplayer and then create a new multiplayer world and click the PVP scenario after creating the world with default settings I see a blank screen with only the buttons showing. I have joined other peoples PVP worlds and the same thing has happened. This does not happen with other scenarios and this happens with or without mods installed. When other people join my world they can see the standard PVP team selection menu when they join.

Does it happen in Single player?

I looked at it, and I have no idea, it works fine on my side, and nobody else in years has reported an issue,
Can you try resizing your window a little bit after loading it? It might force the window to recenter or show up
