[1.1.76] Regular black screens in full screen, multiple monitors

I've been searching for a solution to this but haven't been able to find anyone else with the same issue. Apologies if it's been addressed somewhere else.

The problem seems to only occur in full screen and with two monitors connected. So it's obviously not the end of the world by any means, but it would still be nice to solve. Basically every 3-5 minutes or so the screen goes completely black for around 5 seconds, but it sounds like the game is still running.

All settings max and playing at 4K resolution, but I have tried fiddling with them without luck. Vsync on or off doesn't seem to make a difference.

Specs:
Windows 11 (I notice it says Windows 10 in the log, weird...)
Intel i713700K
GTX 3080 12GB
One 4K monitor via DisplayPort, one 1080p via HDMI

Check if the issue persists when using the non steam version.

I have the exact same problem with the screen blanking for a few seconds with 1.1.76. I am running a dual monitor setup similar to above, with the primary monitor being a RTX 3090. My secondary monitor is a 1080 and idle. My version is the steam version in windowed mode running Win 11 64.

Interesting. I wonder if this is a Nvidia issue with multiple monitors.

Sorry to not reply for so long, but I was having trouble reproducing the issue and it seemed almost random. The only sure solution I found was to unplug my second monitor completely.

Now I'm having an identical problem with Rimworld, although less severe. Interesting it's another 2D sprite based game.

My conclusion is that this isn't a Factorio bug, but something peculiar to this, and apparently other similar hardware setups.

Sorry to bump again since it's not really specifically a Factorio issue, but I found a solution that may help someone finding this thread later.

I changed "Power management mode" to "Prefer maximum performance" in the Nvidia control panel and so far that appears to have completely fixed the problem. Hopefully it's that easy!
