Steam account -> factorio account -> email notifications

I bought Factorio via Steam, so I have a factorio account that is linked to my steam account, and I always "log in with Steam", so I have no account password that I know of. According to https://factorio.com/profile, my Factorio account does not have an associated email address, which means that I do not receive notifications from the mod portal. It seems I cannot associate an email address with my account because that requires a password, I cannot change the password because that requires the old password as well, and I cannot follow the "Forgot password" workflow because the account has no associated email address.

How can I receive mod portal notifications? Note that the associated Steam account of course has an email address, but it seems Factorio did not get the memo when the two accounts got connected.
