[1.1.87] Crash on startup, no error message

[1.1.87] Crash on startup, no error message

Started the game through steam

Started loading, hung for a few seconds when it reached the "loading sprites" part, then it just silently died, no error, nothing. In steam the "Play" button reappeared.

That the game would start up...

It happens irregular, sometimes a few times in a row, otherwise not in a few days.

Most of the time it starts on 2nd try other times i need to restart it up to 5 times or so. It always crashes sometimes in the "loading sprites" part.

When i looked into the logs of a earlier crash it even finished loading a few but crashed afterwards, sadly i have only copied a short part of this log and not the entire one:

I first thought that might be an mod error, but i was told this is probably and Factorio error and I'm best to report this to the forum.

As you've mentioned none of the logs show any crash. Have you checked the system event logs to see if it has recorded any abnormal termination of the game?

I have looked through my /var/log folder but not found anything that overlaps with the time of the crash. I guess i would need to activate overall logging somehow? Alternatively i could start steam with -v and look at these outputs?

That is a steam issue, check if a graphics driver update is available, disable steam overlay or run the game without steam.
