Re: Game wont launch (Steam)
Try opening task manager and closing all of the processes related to steam and then reopen it and try again. For reference you can find out how to get the log file here but since factorio is not actually launching in this case it would not be of use.

Still no luck! I also uninstalled factorio and reinstalled it and the same thing is still happening.Articulating wrote:Try opening task manager and closing all of the processes related to steam and then reopen it and try again. Can you try restarting your PC and updating steam if you canmilky5 wrote:Still no luck! If none of this helps can you attach a factorio.log file

Re: Game wont launch (Steam)
I assume Windows is your operating system of choice.
The symptoms you described are known to be caused by some versions of uncommon antivirus software, which prevents factorio.exe to be exectured for uknown reason.
Or by old version of Logitech Quickcam or Razer Synapse injects its DLL into Factorio which causes crash, but also overwrites Factorio's crash handler so it crashes silently.
Or it could be something entirely else.
Try to look for the log. Hit Win + R on the keyboard and type %APPDATA% then click OK or press Enter. File explorer window should open up, in it search for Factorio folder. If you find it, it should contain file factorio-current.log.
It would be also helpful if you could find and post Report.wer here. You can use AppCrashView (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html) or find the file directly:
It should be located in one of the folders starting with AppCrash_Factorio.exe_ in %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\
(for example C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_Factorio.exe_4c56fc92865f3fd3dc298cb35e6637026807e7d_5249c762_cab_412ac45a)
Sometimes it might be under "All Users" (C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive)

Re: Game wont launch (Steam)
Any more ideas or should i just get a refund from steam?
Re: Game wont launch (Steam)
Hi, I apologize for late response.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... stem-files
That is Factorio folder in Steam, not in AppData, but I think the game crashes even before it creates the folder in AppData, so never mind.milky5 wrote:The factorio folder only has folders: Bin, Data, doc-html and config-path.cfg.
It seems some of your system DLLs might be corrupted. Try to open Windows command line as administrator and run commandmilky5 wrote:Here is what AppCrashView says:
