Hello again..
So i'm playing with my friend and I am currently the Host.
I've noticed a fair amount of lag, especially when driving vehicles.
Anytips I can do to reduce my own lag, and my friends? (just one person is connected besides myself)
I'm currently using port forwarding so he can connect easily.
Single player is buttery smooth for me fyi.

Few basic things:
Is friends single player also smooth?
Try to connect through cabled network not wireless variants - WiFi can increase latency visibly compared to cable.
Get your friend to ping your server - if ping is high then there is not much that can be done - it's based on many factors like ISP, relative locations and much more.

Since this is one of the top posts on google:
Try UPS-up mod. It made Farlands mod (which is ridiculously laggy with a large base) playable for me and my friend.

Check the ping to every player and uncheck the "Peer to Peer" option when you host the server (only uncheck if the server has a good network connection).
Set the ping slider to about 40ms above the largest ping you checked earlier.
Better tips depend on how many people and general network quality (packet loss rate (even 1% matters with 0.13), jitter, ping, upload/download throughput).

I don't think a mod would help AT ALL unless one player isn't keeping up with the server. In 0.13, the server slows down to match the slowest player. You can check UPS with the debug overlay (either F4 or F5, I always forget). Check UPS as people join and make sure they join 1 at a time. This will allow you to see which specific person is dragging the server down. If it's this type of slowdown then the mod might help. 0.13 mostly had issues with very slightly imperfect networks (read internet networks).BlueRaja wrote:Since this is one of the top posts on google:

The question to ask here is; Is the lag constant or does it jitter every little while?
