GPU Monitoring Software error message - cannot load a save

Post by bigglesmagoo »

Hi,

After playing the new hope campaign (level 2) for some time it randomly crashed out with a message - "GPU Monitoring software like about msi afterburner" etc. I'm not using those and never have been.

No modes installed

I now cannot load the save or any of the older auto saves. I have a few autosaves for this campaign. 3rd (most recent) won't load and give the error in title. 1st autosave gives me a deserialisation error.

using the --force-opengl also didn't help

I can start a fresh new game ok. But that save, and any prior on that campaign, seem to be dead.

I am running two monitors. Tried reverting to one display but no good.

Here is the log file:

60.988 Error Util.cpp:77: GPU monitoring software like MSI Afterburner or EVGA PrecisionX is interfering with Factorio and the game crashed. Shutting down such software or configuring it to not detect Factorio may prevent this kind of crash.
Alternatively you can try to set force-opengl=true in Factorio's config file or use launch option --force-opengl.

You can help us to solve the problem by posting information about your HW configuration, software you use and contents of the log file on the Factorio forums.
I'm on an older system

Win 10
Intel Q6600 (stock clock)
AMD Radeon 5870 - Sapphire
Asus P5E Mb
4GB Ram

Any help would be great!

Also seeing this issue, attached save and logs. Ran into this twice - both in New Hope level 2, about two hours into the level, with the objective to gather materials before leaving in the car. After this crash all my manual and autosaves on the level are corrupted - when trying to load them I get "Deserialisation error, target with id 3913 doesn't exist".

NEEDS a fix; I just lost most of my first six hours of gameplay by encountering this crash twice, and I don't why I should even try to play again until I know my time isn't going to keep being wasted.

I get the same error, third attempt on New Hope 2.

This is around 2 hours in this time- It's either the above error or the deserialisation error on the earlier saves.

For the error in New Hope 2:

[0.12.25] Save file not loading

The chest got me the first time.
Alas it seems there is something else on the map that will cause the error- all I can think I did differently was picking up and replacing a lot of the existing train rail.

I have the same issue as the other posted originally in this thread. This map is like a double whammy of breaking saves.

Does this also cause the deserialisation error?

Looks like ill have to do the whole thing again, again :( no way to skip to level 2 i guess? when i restart i have to start from level 1

Code: Select all

/c game.set_game_state{game_finished=true, player_won=true, next_level="level-02"}

Maybe the campaign could have got a little more attention before going to Steam.
The thing is that most players play freeplay, so the campaign has had a lot less testing than the core game.
I have hundreds of hours of gameplay, and I didn't even start the campaign.
