[0.12.29][Linux] Someone joining a server locks the cursor

The title basically sums it up... if someone joins the server, the cursor gets locked in the window until the map loads. Switching virtual desktops doesn't fix things, the mouse gets stuck on the left side of the screen. Switching back, it makes things worse: then even after the map loads the mouse remains trapped!
I'm running the Steam version on Fedora MATE-Compiz

Opening and closing the chat repeatedly will unlock the cursor.
Also, doing that when the cursor is unlocked will lock it.

Since its not easily reproduced and easily fixed in game,
I will move to minor issues for now
