As you can see in the following two pictures, depending on the direction of the signaling, the same distance between rail signals lead to different allowed cargo length.
This is somewhat annoying and would require to extend the "bottom to top" rails to be able to fit the same amount of cargo.

This is most likely just due to rotation being imperfect plus the fixed point coordinate system we use to position entities and signals. I don't believe there's any simple fix for the foreseeable future.

Yes it is in the most recent 0.14 experimental update. And ok, will just have to keep this in mind when planning rails

It's just a visual bug. You can still fit two cargo wagons in that space.
It seems to happen when signals are placed next to curved rail pieces.
