Trains can route a path successfully, but cannot cross it. The track piece cannot be removed by hand or by construction robot. It also appears to be immune to damage and has completely ignored attacks by machine guns, shotguns, flamethrowers, grenades and tank shells. I haven't tried other weapons or siccing some biters on it, although I guess those won't work either.
