Read in the 12.7 update that you fixed an issue with cannon behavior when aiming next to the tank, but with 12.8, the aim is seriously off in many situations.
This mostly effects firing at the worm defensive turret things at max cannon range as sometimes the cannon will get stuck firing about ~15 deg off target in a single direction (as in, not a spread, but only shooting to the left of the target), completely missing for many shells. Usually have to move the cursor around and try not having it directly on the thing I'm shooting at in hopes that the more random auto aim gets lucky. Strangely, the turret itself looks like it's correctly aimed with the shells coming out at a slightly weird angle.
Non-explosive shells if it matters.

It's probably same as with shotgun it shoots in one of 8 main directions.

Thank for the report. Adil is probably right and tank cannon seems to be fixed in current build of 0.12.9. I was able to reproduce the issue in 0.12.8.
