Filter being ignored when putting item back

Say you have iron plates in the tool belt at the bottom of the screen. Pick it up so the field is empty. Click the middle mouse button to select a filter for the field and select coal. Clicking at the filed now complains that the filter does not allow iron plates to be placed there. But pressing "q" will put them back there anyway.

What version are you using? The procedure you describe should filter the slot for iron plates in the latest version anyway and not even open the selection UI.

I am guessing you might still be using version 13 as this was fixed in 0.14.8 - viewtopic.php?f=11&t=32952
