As there is talks about power efficiency in this FFF - anyone got some actual UPS per Watt numbers measured at the power outlet for AMD/Intel PC or Arm/Intel Mac?

This is a very cool update for me, I am currently in Ukraine and while russia is bombing the energy infrastructure of my country, I am playing factorio on my macbook pro for 8-10 hours in a row without electricity and the Internet. Now I can do it longer)

You're welcome! How well does a MacBook Air run Factorio? I haven't had the opportunity to use one of those yet.
All I can say is, that's a joy to use. I didn't came across any bug or lagging.
Thanks - now its time to raise Factorio to the iPad (with keyboard) - is it?

I just joined to say THANK YOU for releasing the Apple Silicon native version!

It means a lot to many of us Mac Gamers. usually when we ask for such a thing, we get the usual reply: Go buy a "real" computer...

Not sure if my current rail world is a mega base but I was having some UPS problems, playing on a M1 Pro, I was hitting around 52-58UPS and if I wanted to see all the trains on the network (900) the UPS dropped to the low 20s, I’m excited to be playing at 60UPS again!

how much kiss ass and promotion can you give to the mac pro let their users decide for them selves if the game is any good,

You're welcome! How well does a MacBook Air run Factorio? I haven't had the opportunity to use one of those yet.
I've never tried on an M1 Air but I first started playing Factorio on a 2014 MacBook Air (Dual core i5, 4GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics) and honestly it was pretty alright. I didn't make any megabases on that laptop by any means but I did finish a couple decent size factories (about 75 spm IIRC.) It did become a bit of a slideshow if I stood in the middle of my nuclear reactor however :D Its crazy how well Factorio runs on potato computers

3h30 is not enough :(

but it's also 7 times more than 30 minutes in only 4 month of time !

i predict we can reach 30 hours by the end of next year and maybe 50 before the expansion :lol:

Cool news. Great for people with the relevant Apple hardware.

But my main reason for commenting to to say that the image on the steam news post is So Cool. I'm surprised that wasn't also in the blog post.

Absolutely brilliant, what an entrance as a new dev!!! Thank you @StragePan for the work and welcome to the Wube dev team.

I was already thinking after the .72 update when noticing the mac-arm64 build label that this must have been a major effort for the team with a specialist on their side... and now we also know the story behind it.

Hope you will stay with Wube for long, so we will have strong Mac support for the time coming!

It compares pretty favorably, given the M1's strong single-core performance (though I imagine the latest gen AMD/Intel parts would do quite well, albeit with greater power consumption):

I got these results using the flame_Sla 10k map. Both laptops were plugged in during testing.

Kind of odd that my M1 Pro ended up getting results closer to the normal M1 or x86_64 results (per the blog post), considering the primary difference between the M1 Pro and M1 Max is the GPU.

Last time I had to deal with releasing an app on the App Store, it was not allowed to run scripts downloaded from the Internet. If they still have this rule, that would mean no mods like on Switch, and it could also cause us trouble with scenario scripts inside the saves. Would people actually pay $30 for the game on iPad? I am under the impression people are used to either free or $1 apps and premium apps that cost $10 are not popular.

The missing external download ability when ported to the App Store may be in case a drawback.
But only for the few who know that that exists on other platforms ;-)
That said, —even without mods, a stable Vanilla Factorio without extensions will still be a revolution on the Apple App Store as the replay value is unmatched by a far shot. There is no mach in the games' functionality (except Frostpunk—but that's a completely some other tribe of game) to it wherever you look.
Factorio is not a game, but more a drug or an irresistible sect as soon as you got in touch with it.
If you’re addicted or get a hang on Factorio, then €30 for being endless playable on iOS (with keyboard) would be a steal—otherwise if you are not interested in that kind of stuff even €5 would be steep.
That said, it's imho economically surely worth the try to port Factorio to the App Store as:

- Apple and iPad users are not by themselves gamers and have comparable little choice
- used that software for Mac is costly
- Factorio's replay value is unmatched by a far shot
- Apple folks don’t like (like me, and I’m 74 and apple user since 1985) and hesitate to download from other sites than from the AppleStore direct as this avoids viruses practically at 100% and is a very trustable save site

Me, it took times as one of the first buyers of Factorio to convince myself to direct download Factorio from the dev. site as I'm scared of the problems PC users are generally used to like spams and / or viruses and other problems.

I think $30 on App store would only be bought by those who already know (and like) Factorio and want to play it on the iPad or whatever.

Personally, if I ran across a game on the app store advertising $30, I'd laugh and keep going. Most every game I've seen in the app store has always seemed like junk, so I'd just consider that as another rip off. But that's just me. I can't speak for everyone's opinion.

I'm not saying that $30 is unreasonable for an iPad port of Factorio. I'm saying that given the general quality of games on the app store, (from my perspective) anyone seeing a $30 game is just going to keep going without giving it another look or chance, hence only people who already know about Factorio would actually stop and buy it.
