the insane map of doom has been remastered and is better than ever but be warned this map is now extremely difficult.


1- opened the saves file, c:/user/USER (the name of the account your using i guess)/AppData/Roaming/Factorio/saves
2 - download the zip
3 - drag and drop the zip in the folder
4 - run factorio
5 - then New
6 - custom scenario
7 - Crashland v3
8 - attempt
9 - TRY Not Being EATEN

You have the file as a .rar file. Which is not technically a zip. I know it's the same difference and unimportant but You may want to re-zip it as not everyone will have WinRar.

Also went to try out the map but i think your missing files as it's not picking it up. I'll give the map another try when you upload a new file.

I found out that it's not your files it's the location you mention. File should be placed at the following:

C:\Program Files\Factorio\data\base\scenarios

Also need to be unzipped.

Saw the map.

Just wanted to say, that although I really enjoyed this scenario, I feel that the over-zealous resources ruined it.

The early game was good, as it was difficult to balance pollution (and thus biters) and defense. Loved the little nest of trees on the east of the island.

Late game its a bit like "Oh we need more land, lets just wipe out 2000 nests."

By restricting the initial resources I think this map would be brilliant.

I don't have a Mac to test it on, but this should work:
go to ~/Library/Application Support/factorio and create a new folder called scenarios there (next to the mods and saves folders). Then copy the Crashlandv3 folder from the .rar into it.

Welll i installed it then i went to map editor just to see the map ....

I saw all of the enemies ... i was like

*save* *call it :"Try Me B*tch"*
*add a couple more ammo with a decent gun (non op)*
*save again*
*Play*
*spend like 20 min to collect all resources*
*die*
*rage*
*try again*
*get furder*
*write this reply*
*get killed again*
*take a break*
*edit map again to OP weapons*
*succed and win*

sooo i vote 8/2 m8 this map gr8 ... i need to see someone else finished world ... xD

soon i would have to do a series on this map ... without extra weapons

The map it's pretty easy, i am always playing on freeplay maps with all maxed on aliens so yea...
I'm pretty maxed out robots and everything the only thing that i really dont have is electricty lul.
It's ok that super 1.4 M iron slots or cooper on the main island aren't that bad cause you cant really use them all.

OH MAW GAWD ... i have to step up my game ....

The only problem is that after a bit of time it get's boring if you play solo because you don't really have any challanges like dunno launch 100 rockets , do the achivement there is no spoon .. idk something

If you have problems with the rar file, get 7-zip. It's free and can open and extract rar files. https://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/ This will not start a download automatically.

Proper location for the file is...

... \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Factorio\data\base\scenarios

I use a non-standard install location (I have a dedicated SSD for my games), as may others. Regardless, the basic path for Steam games is the same starting with "SteamLibrary".

Hope this helps (no, I have no clue for Macs). It makes no sense to put it in save games when you know the proper location.
