[1.1.109] Crash when trying to launch the gane

Post by GISwarm »

Trying to play Factorio on Linux, Ubuntu24.04. Installed it via steam, clicked Play - the game tries to start but crashes immediately with this popup:

Log file should be in attachments.
It happens always, and the issue is specific to this game - for example, games like EVE online, Phasmophobia and Hollow Knight are running as usual. What have I tried:
1. Reinstalling Factorio. Reinstalled it using steam manage->properties->uninstall option, installed again - nothing has changed, logs are similar.
2. Verify integrity of game files. Steam reports that all files are ok.
3. Changing resolution. Usually I use 3840x2400, but some games have problems with that. However, changing it to 1920x1200 didn't solve the issue.
4. Launching with fullscreen mode disabled. I tried to launch this game using "--fullscreen=false" argument which I wrote in steam's factorio properties. The game does try to start in window mode, but still produces same crash log.

I use Nvidea Geforce 4090, driver-535, so it should be enough (at least for starting the game...). I have been playing this game before on different PC, Ubuntu20. I have no idea what may be the cause of this problem in this specific environment.

This error has randomly fixed itself. Didn't do anything, only tried to play Factorio ~twice a day to see if it has magically fixed itself - which it did! I have no idea what was the cause of this but here we are
