A mod with NPC ?

Hey everyone,
I finally launched my first rocket :D playing on and off for about two years. Factorio is hands down one of the best games ever created, and I really want to contribute to the endless stream of content, so I'll may start modding myself. What I have in mind is a small mod adding NPCs to the game, so that the player feel less lonely (I know this goes against the intended loneliness feeling, but um, since multiplayer exists why not allow NPCs :)
Do you think it might be interesting ? Also, I have not found any mod adding non enemy creatures, but does anyone knows one from a previous version ?
Anyway, I'll keep my advancement posted here if some people are interested (else I will quickly stop, I don't want to flood)

Do you mean something like cats or dogs?
A good mod deserves a good changelog. Here's a tutorial (WIP) about Factorio's way too strict changelog syntax!

Oh thanks ! Both mods are so cute, I would have never found those mods searching for "NPCs" but I guess it's a beginning yeah ^^
I was thinking more about human NPCs, but I am happy to see that it seems possible!

Technically, the cats and dogs are of the 'unit' type (same as biters/spitters). This should make it possible to order them to move to another position. Of course, it would also be possible to use NPCs of type 'character'! Actually, there are quite a number of mods that provide new characters (check out the dependencies of miniMAXIme!) which you could use. You can create/destroy characters just like any other entity. Additionally, you can also teleport them (even to another surface). So, yes, it should be possible to script some NPC interaction.

I normally play without biters, but when I do play with them enabled, having followers would be good.
I am currently have more interest in modifying the main character though. And modding the character to float and not be drowned if I accidentally place water underneath.
I am also thinking of 'somewhat' human based, like one of my favourite characters from the old cartoons.
Likes Bugs Bunny. (I believe many of these old characters are now Public Domain in the US.)
