What did you do?
I dragged the map view (close to the surface, so showing the actual tiles) along a line of chemical plants.
What happened?
The sounds of the chemical plants seem to restart when I drag along the line when I left go of the left mouse button on a not normal cycle of the sound.
When I ran past them in "character" mode it does not do the restarting.
What did you expect to happen instead?
I expected the sound to be similar to when you run along the same line, continuous.
EDIT: This also happens with the Centrifuge, so I am guessing it is something to do with the audio listener object in map mode.

I believe I noticed this same thing. Or something similar.
From map mode, zoom in above some chem plants or centrifuges. Oscillate back and forth with left/right (a/d?). The sound cuts/restarts jarringly.
I haven't specifically tried dragging the map to do this, but it sounds as if it's the same issue.

I didn't notice it when running past the same machines, unlike in the linked bug report.
But it sounds exactly like that when I was dragging the map.

Yeah, I can poke at this more tonight, but I'm in the same boat. From what I remember, running past the machines didn't cause this; only scrolling over them via the map.

Thanks for the report. When I tested this out it seems to work just fine? In the map view using "A" and "D" to move left/right moves incredibly fast so it essentially teleports the view to the new set of machines which acts like you teleported into audio range and the sounds start playing from there.
The assembling machines are *incredibly* quiet though. Not sure what's up with that.

Can someone post a video showing the issue they're seeing? Maybe the setup I made to test doesn't show it.

I have been trying to capture the audio output, but I am on a Mac so it is difficult.
