[Lou][2.0.14] quantum landfill (waterwell + landfill experiment)

Post by Rodon26 »

So, I accidentally created magic landfill that simultaneously is and isn't there.

(disclaimer, involves "instant blueprint" from creative mode mod, no clue if relevant)

Normally, if you put an offshore pump, and landfill around it, you get a perfectly functional water well.
I figured since the 2.0 added a bunch of functions, then between minable landfill and and "super forced blueprints", surely there would be no problem just slapping a water well in the middle of a landfilled area. I was wrong.

Then I got the idea that "maybe I should put some stone bricks down first", and things got haunted when I tried to place the pump there.
It ate the bricks. And when I tried to mine the landfill underneath, the bricks came back, and area became untouchable.

Maybe its just an edge case where Instant blueprint (from creative mode mod) somehow bypasses some rules, but I'll just leave it here. Too spoopy for me.

While there are some known edgecase issues around offshore pumps and landfill, the "bricks came back" part seems very suspiscous. Could you please provide a save with the blueprint?

There is no blueprint.
The "instant blueprint" is just a function that spawns proper entities instead of the ghosts you would normally do. (if valid)
That includes from held items.
The mod that adds that finction is "Creative Mod"

As for the save
I didn't initially save the bug so I had re recreate it.
Red area with green signal (and cheat) is the full bug end result.
Yellow, is the area where I placed the pump and hadn't done anything else.
In red, I turned off instant blueprint and allowed the bots to do it, and seems normal.

Placing it on just landfill works as "normal" also. eats the landfill and places pump.
Issue starts if there are two layers to work though.

EDIT EDIT: Ignore the ignore, it mostly applies to this post as well :D
EDIT: ignore this, I got posts mixed up :(
Ah, in that case in that would make more sense, because the hidden tiles were substancially broken when interacting with them via lua (118527), which was fixed in 2.0.18.

I am not going to read through the mod to check wether it actually is setting tiles I tried some stuff with the mod and it modifies the tiles via commands, but if so, that would explain your broken state of nondecontructable landfill (and be already fixed). So I would stick to the previous plan - let me know if more places get broken on 2.0.18 or later version, until then I am gonna assume this is already fixed.

There might also be some issue with the mod trying to interpret these self-colliding blueprints, which I don't blame them for because they are being treted a bit inconsistently by the game itself due to conflicting requirements. So I am marking this as Not a Bug
