Factorio regularly stops responding

Recently factorio keeps freezing while i've been playing space exploration, with no response until i'm forced to stop it forcefully.

i have verified the steam files and the problem persists.

I'm running linux mint 21.1 Cinnamon if that helps, i also assume it not to be a hardware issue since i have 24GB RAM and a 5600x processor.

how do i stop this from happening?

I have experienced this with both Space Exploration and Warptorio 2. I have also experienced it on the main menu without loading a save.

The log file doesn't show anything crashing so it's not of any use. When it happens; do you have any way to capture a stack trace or dump?
