Crash in menu right after starting the game

I can't figure out how to repro this consistently, it often crashes if I click through the menu quickly after starting the game. If it doesn't crash in the first 10 or so seconds, the game runs fine, but sometimes it crashes 3 or 4 times before I actually get into a game. I'm on window 7 64 bit sp1, amd R9 290.
