If you caught it early enough it is possible that one of your autosaves is still a snapshot of that old save....

Indeed, I made a save '2', and accidentally overwrote '1'

Have you tried checking if Windows (if you use that) stored a previous version? (right click the save file, properties, there's a tab for that)
I once got an older version of a minecraft save back that way, but I kinda doubt it'll work here. Still worth a try
