My usual background music is Juno Reactor.
I would like my son to follow me there. He's looking for pet vacuum cleaner unbiased reviews. That site provides the best info ever, in my opinion.

I generally put on heavy metal, for some reason...
Gonna start playing again with 0.16 build.
That's all.
That's all.
Re: Songs to Factorioize by
Even though I am at lot into metal I can't play Factorio while listening to it. Somehow destroys the mood... probably the usual pace of most metal genre's is just too fast for the long, drawn out gameplay of Factorio. Maybe some atmospheric black/doom metal with 10 minute long songs are okay, but everything else... brrr... Can't deal with it... Would be better to play Doom 4 itself then but then again that already has an awesome djent soundtrack.olafthecat wrote:I generally put on heavy metal, for some reason...

Generally cant play with anything in the background, because i use to crank everything up.
What I somehow still can listen to while playing is Dave Matthews Band, sounds good at any volume and imho fits any game as a background. Was played with Factorio and Far Cry 5 recently
Sometimes, but VERY rarely, i also listen to orchestra movie scores, like Hans Zimmer

Re: Songs to Factorioize by
I find House of all kinds goes great. Works like "driving music" - that four-to-the-floor keeps the pulse pumping and the blood flowing to the brain - you know, for finkin' gud an' stuff
Tech House, Minimal House, Funky House, Jazzy House... in a pinch even Oh-So-Cheesy BBC Radio One House would do the trick!
I've been slapping my favourite tracks into mixes on youtube these past few months (check out the playlist at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... Wx45pBWCzf if you want to check out some of the tasty beats I like to Factorioize by).
But shameless self-promotion aside... Factorio is more than a game; Factorio is a feeling. Factorio is a sanctuary. Factorio is a release. Factorio will pick you up when you feel down. Factorio will make you strong when you feel weak. Factorio will fill you up, when you feel hungry.
Happy Factorioizing Factorioistas!

What do you listen to while playing?
Typically, when I play Factorio, I have some kind of video on my second screen. During my last game, it was this interestinglets play/lecture series regarding Deus Ex.
I'd be curious to know what (if anything) other people playing watch/listen to while doing so.
(As a side note, I'm not sure if this belongs in General Discussion or Off Topic. If a mod could chime in on this, that would be wonderful)

Re: Songs to Factorioize by
My factorio music:
Mosolov's Iron Foundry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-yl4aI6xzU (when setting up smelting/metallurgy)
Adams' Short ride in a fast machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPzNzlNW6ms (only in the mid game when you're base is churning around)
Deshovov's Rails: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnXkJr24K44 (you know when to play this)
Antheil's Mechanical Ballet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXbwPRmyMLM
Giutini's macchine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUFlUuC ... 9&index=10
As I transition into late-game I like to play more electronic works, such as song of the second moon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVl2_MSwmSA or babbit's enemble for synthesizer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5n1pZn4izI ; ruth white's take on cpe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BF65kPfNYU ; Beyer's music of the spheres: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_REVFN7A6_4
In general, I like this sort of tiering of music into different stages of the game, so you the music sounds more futuristic as you move forward in your factory-building. I think it would be interesting to develop a playlist that matches chronologically. We could go from late-romanticism to early-futurism/modernism to late-futurism as the game progresses technologically - match the way music has developed in response to higher stages of industrialization to our own industrialization in game.

This one to me feels so peaceful, when you need to think about the long term planning, and let your mind travels : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89N_ip3N_Io
Found it on a mix by the guy who also made this one : https://soundcloud.com/boltingbits/mixedby-dave-allison , funk disco house whatever the boxes' name , it's a concentrate of good mood that sets my mind to happiness, which helps me a lot in being patient enough to play factorio, either sit back and relax time when thinking "what's next", but also for the part of tedious when you have to clean a mistake it magically evacuate frustration and replace it with relaxed optimism !

Hi all,
I was just listening to Jean Michael Jarre - Revolutions (1988) and thought to myself that it would be perfect fit to this game (even the songs are named Industrial Revolution).
Just a suggestion to implement this anywhere in the game if possible (there is also remastered version - 2015).
Thanks and keep up the good work!

[Koub] Merged into the "Songs to Factorioize by" thread, because I don't think Wube can afford Jean Michel Jarre's music (you do realize it's not just a matter of dling an mp3, and adding it to the musics folder, right ?)

Factorio soundtrack, of course
Re: What music do you like to listen to while playing Factorio?
I tend to listen to the soundtrack from the game.
If I’m listening to anything else, its the radio. Q105 from Tampa, Fl. Gotta love their Saturday Night Dance Party!
