Debugging Multiplayer Issues with One Installation

Post by GarenWyvern »

I have a bug in a mod I am creating that seems to only be present in multiplayer. I do not have testers readily available to test every little tweak I make over and over (which I do not blame them for not wanting to, hah). I bought Factorio from Steam, which does not seem let me log into the game twice to test my mod in multiplayer. Is there a way around this?

Connect your steam account to an account on Factorio.com and download the zip version there. Extract said zip twice, to two different places. Dont log in, simply host a LAN game in one of the instances and turn off user verification when doing so. Use a different name (again, no logging in!) in the second instance and join yourself via the LAN game search. Voila, you have a "multi"player game :)
I'm an admin over at https://wiki.factorio.com. Feel free to contact me if there's anything wrong (or right) with it.
