Game "freezing" when deleting chunks [SE + K2]

Someone let the surface scanning go wild and blew up the size of the save file. Trying to trim it to upload it to Factorio.zone but it seems to get stuck after figuring out which chunks to delete.

How long have you let it wait? I'm assuming you've tried waiting several minutes. It could just take a really long time to process each individual chunk.

Try this on a copy of the save. Can you delete the surface from SE instead of trim (probably not, if it's been built on)? Can you delete chunks or the entire surface in /editor mode?

I waited probably at most 20 minutes.

I tried both SE's built in trim and the mod "Delete Empty Chunks" and they both do the same thing.

I just tried /editor mode. It won't let me delete surface. "Remove empty chunks" does nothing.

I'll try trimming it over night and see how it goes.

I loaded your savefile with a small subset of your mods (SE and its dependencies + K2), and I was able to trim Nauvis in about 30 seconds on a laptop. One of your other mods (which I didn't have enabled) is presumably listening for chunks getting deleted (or registered entities getting destroyed) and doing some very time-consuming processing. I'm not familiar with many of your mods to be able to know which one might be the culprit. I have an idea for how you might go about troubleshooting this, though it would be best to continue this discussion in the SE discord.

Thanks for looking in to that. I did that too but I guess I missed that mod. I'll hop on to the SE discord later.

Troubleshot the issue in Discord. Combat Robots Overhaul is the culprit. Disabled it and I had no problem trimming the surface.
