While there is no new sound input (for example chopping wood or placing an item) all the game sounds fade away within a few seconds. When a new sound input (biter attack alarm, placing an item etc) is made the sound comes back again, only to fade away after a few seconds.
Walking and driving the car won't keep the sounds active, only when a real new input is given.

The reason we ask for the logfile is, that the issue described by you is something that is not normally happening, so it is most probably something very specific in your system.

I have found out today the issue only arises when I set my system volume to 55% or less. Above that value there is no issue.
[EDIT] more specific: When I zoom out, the volume level needed for the sounds to be heard raises as well. Fully zoomed out only 100% volume keeps the sounds active.
[EDIT2] I found the cause of the sound issue. My Arctis Pro Headset has several game profiles, of which Factorio is detected as one. Apparently the update tot 1.1.24 and a driver update of the headset caused the game profiles to be set to the wrong default, where they need to check if other programs (like MS teams for example) are active and sound is to be muted. I reset it to default and the problem went away.
