[0.11.3][Mac Lion] Graphics issue when low on ram.

Post by infinitehubgear »

I came across an interesting graphics bug (serious glitches) where I think I ran out of real and virtual ram. I actually have 10.5 GB free space.
I'm not sure I can recreate it. Sure its not much you can do developer-wise when there's no ram or HD space left over, but I thought it was interesting to note. :)

Here's what my console logs say at the time of glitching:

13/12/2014 22:41:03.734 com.apple.mtmd: attempting to thin because of low free space on Macintosh HD (/) by removing 2014-12-13 22:18:11 +0000
13/12/2014 22:44:10.659 factorio: NSMapGet: map table argument is NULL

Who made your GPU?

Chipset Model: Intel HD Graphics 3000
Type: GPU
Bus: Built-In
VRAM (Total): 384 MB
Vendor: Intel (0x8086)

Its not so much that most of the graphics is missing. Its more like this, even though I had the low resolution mode on. Its only happened once and I can't replicate it. I think I'll try worrying about graphics problems for the later versions.

Well, you just have not enough video memory, and this is kind of known problem. You can try the low graphics mode, although the game will look quite shitty :)
