[0.16.6] Landfill leaves a canal behind

The new coastline system leaves a canal when you use the landfill.
In [0.15.40] it looked like:

In [0.16.6] it looks like this:

Now the problem is, that there is a canal which is walkable, but not buildable:

I'm not sure if it's intended or a bug. Any ideas?
You also need 6 landfills (4 for the land and 2 to close the canal) instead of 4 for the same amount of land.

This is working as intended, the transition is on the water side now and you did not place landfill on the the water tiles adjacent to the main land, so this is the expected result.

I only ask this because you didn't specifically state it:

Did you try to place landfill where the canal is? Like, right where that underground belt is red?
