I set up a boiler with a water supply connected to 2 steam engines in a line to the "steam" side of the boiler. The steam engines are connected to machines consuming a total of 98kW of power (significantly less than the capacity of the steam engines). When I initially add coal, it boils for about half a second to a second. Then, the steam supply stops (although the steam engines continue to provide electricity for a while, then eventually stop when they run out of steam). I expected the boiler to continue to consume more steam to make up for the steam engine's shortage, but instead it just stayed frozen, causing an unexpected cessation in electricity production. Oddly, when the boiler is rotated, it continues to provide steam again for another short period of time. Saving and loading doesn't cause the boiler to continue, nor does removing and reentering the fuel.
Savegame attached.
