Hi, I don't know if intended, but pipes and storage tanks containing 500°C steam are freezing despite the contained heat.
I would have expected that this is prevented due to the hot steam, so they don't have to be heated externally.
[2.0.15] Pipes and Storagetanks with 500°C Steam are freezing
Re: [2.0.15] Pipes and Storagetanks with 500°C Steam are freezing
Think of storage tank's contents as being perfectly isolated from the outside environment. The steam inside never loses any heat, but it also means it can't be used to keep the tank (or rather the valves at pipe connections) warm enough to function.

Even though I understand your Argument, wouldn't such an perfect Insulation also prevent other liquids from freezing, or am I missing something?
Edit: And besides the tanks, in case of perfect insulation why are pipes freezing?

Re: [2.0.15] Pipes and Storagetanks with 500°C Steam are freezing
Pipes and tanks freeze because we say they freeze when there isn’t a heat pipe next to them with enough heat. Trying to logic a reason past that is futile because there is none.
Its a gameplay system that forces you to build heat pipes and keep them warm.

is possible make steam turbine also not freezable as heat excanger ?
it make no sense that steam turbine which release hot steam will freeze
or is bug that heat excanger will not freeze even without heat pipe ?

Re: [2.0.15] Pipes and Storagetanks with 500°C Steam are freezing
I appreciate the explanation. My bug report was more about pointing out an inconsistency in the gameplay mechanics than seeking an in-game workaround. I thought it might be helpful for the development team to know, since the freezing effect seems counterintuitive with hot steam inside the pipes and tanks. Thanks for looking into it!
