Placing a larger capacity box, filling it up with items, then replacing it with a smaller capacity box leads to items being sent to personal inventory, and if that's full, will be dumped on the ground.
To replicate: Pretty straightforward. Place an iron, steel, or logistics box, fill it up, and then place a wooden box over it, replacing it.
Don't think a log or other report is needed, but here's a screen shot.

That's a designed feature not a bug.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

How exactly is that intentional? It should be simple enough to transfer the surplus items into the players inventory and, if they don't fit, refuse the chest replacement.Rseding91 wrote:That's a designed feature not a bug.

The same way that trains can kill you by running you over instead of pushing you aside or stopping - it's a designed feature that trying to stuff the contents of a larger chest into a smaller one doesn't fit and the contents spill.Gandalf wrote:How exactly is that intentional? This was formerly much uglier: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=6&t=2124Gandalf wrote:How exactly is that intentional? It should be simple enough to transfer the surplus items into the players inventory and, if they don't fit, refuse the chest replacement.
But the forum liked it somehow and so the possibility keeps in the game. I think it's a logical explainable decision.
Search for "chest explosion" if you want to know more about it.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.
