[0.5.2]Creating steel

Post by jeroentjuh99 »

Hi,
I had an automated way to create steel plates (with furnaces and inserters), before I researched steel. It doesn't do anything (correct so far).
When you research steel, it still doesn't do anything (huh?). When you try to put the iron plates into the furnace manually, it says that you can't smelt iron plates (huh?).
It is not accepting iron plates untill you break and replace the furnaces. then everything behaves like it should.

I'm running Factorio on win7x64.

Steps to reproduce: place furnaces with inserters to insert iron plates into it->research steel->nothing happens->try to put iron plates into the furnace manually->nothing happens->break and replace furnace->fixed :)

Thanks for the report, but I'm looking at it now and everything seems to work all right. Could you please send me a save where the steel is not being produced?
I have no idea what I'm talking about.

My char should be looking at the furnaces. Manual/inserter input isn't working

The file is available for 7 days on this hosting service.

Well, this is technically not a bug in the game ... It's just a major user interface problem in map editor :-)
The problem is, that furnaces built in map editor are neutral by default and they aren't connected to player's research. You can change this by pressing 'T' over the furnace and changing its owner to 'player'.

Map editor is going to get some more love soon (not in 0.6.0, though :-) ), so just try to put up with it for a little while longer.
I have no idea what I'm talking about.
