Based on how research usually progresses, with production preceding utility, and research cost being progressively more expensive, my expectation is Character Logistics Slot research to go advance something like:

CLS-3 150 Automation, Logistics, Chemical
CLS-4 250 Automation, Logistics, Chemical, Production

The developers want Production and Utility to be the same rank, and the more sophisticated logistic system is unlocked by Utility, so that part seems correct.
