Can this be played without AL?

Does anyone know if all of the rebalancing that has happened with AE will work in a non-AL base? I enjoy the more complex chains that PY is known for, but I don't enjoy the various modules and animal loops that AL introduced. Would starting a new base with all of Py except for AL be a bad idea? Would I also have to exclude AE?

I'm not exactly what your asking.

All the mods were rebalanced you don't need any specific mod for that.
No you don't need pyal if you don't want it.
Pyae does require pyal along with all the other mods though.

If your looking for a shorter py experience there's see 3 recommended pairings for a "full" game although even just pycoalprocessing is a full overhaul.
