Pump for speed?
Pump for speed?
hi, can i use a pump to speed up the oil coming from the pumpjack and going to the oilrefinery? Or is there no difference without a pump? Depents this on the distance?
Re: Pump for speed?
Yes you can, and there is a difference.

Re: Pump for speed?
thank you. Does a huge distance between pumpjack and oilrefinery make the amout of oil come slower then a short distance?
Re: Pump for speed?
Yes definitely. I think this is still accurate : https://wiki.factorio.com/Fluid_system#Pipelines

Re: Pump for speed?
Pumps absolutely help, but you will be still limited by the amount that is actually pumped by pumpjacks.
Aside from that, you seem to have a somewhat specific issue with your own game. We can help you a lot easier if you post your save file or at least some screenshots.

Re: Pump for speed?
As a "cheat" to improve the flow you can replace your straight pipes with underground pipes.
They cover 10 tiles but only count as 2.
Just place some large poles and place a pump at each pole.
Connect them with underground pipes and you have much higher flow.
Or it is time to switch to trains.

Re: Pump for speed?
but only with a pump between them? "a full-length section only counts as two pipes in this table, if a pump is placed between each underground section" -> https://wiki.factorio.com/Fluid_system#PipelinesJimBarracus wrote:As a "cheat" to improve the flow you can replace your straight pipes with underground pipes.

Does it make sense, building 5 pumps in a row?
Re: Pump for speed?
No, an underground pipe always counts as two pipes. That's just worded poorly (I believe it's trying to say that if you place pumps between every every set of underground pipes, you can get the same throughput as two pipes).Pascali wrote:but only with a pump between them? There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.
