20 RPM Gigabase with Angel's Mods

Hi everyone,

This is my first post in the Forums, even though I've been an avid player of Factorio for about two years now. ON my first megabase I tried the main hub concept, but quickly realized that it restricted the growth of the factory when the hub size was exhausted. I then decided to go for a modular system linked by trains which would allow the factory to keep growing indefinitely. As the factory kept on growing it became clear that the only real limitation is the FPS/UPS of my computer, and I put a target of 20 RPMs or 20,000 SPM, which I finally managed to achieve. Below is the result.

Here are some stats and general comments:
1) this factory is heavily modded.
The main mod is Angel's, which is fantastic due to the realism and complexity it brings in the petrochemical area. Designing the plastics and rocket fuel modules were the largest challenges in the design, but also the most fun!
I also use a lot of mods that add new tools to increase the productivity and facilitate design, like Ultimate Belts, YARM, Long Reach, Bottleneck, etc. Creative Mode became necessary in the later stages
2) No biters, no pollution, no cliffs, no trees
3) this factory consumes about 190GW of energy
4) to achieve 20RPMs the factory produces about the following, per minute:
2.0 million copper plates
1.0 million iron plates
1.0 million green circuits
650K plastic bars
300K steel plates
40K low density structure
21k rocket fuel
5) there are about 2,800 trains running, split in three networks, two for raw materials on the top and bottom edges, and the larger one in the middle for everything else
6) Logistics robots are only used in small areas and in small scale, mostly in the construction materials preparation area and in the nuclear energy plants
7) the savefile is about 250MB large. Yeah, it takes a long time to load and save...
8) FPS/UPS is now about 3.0, which makes playing the game now almost painful
9) I definitely spent some 2,000 hours to finish this

It was great fun to design the modules and to cope with the issues that popped up. How to deal with the train traffic is probably the most difficult as there was no way to foresee the amount of traffic that would be generated when I started building the factory. This is still a bit of a pain sometimes as the occasional deadlocks still happen due to sheer overload of an area.

I look forward now to version 1.0 and to seeing this factory running on the finished game!

Impressive !!
Is it not going to be difficult to put a packed (with one entry and all the mods :) on some file hosting service so that it only remains to unpack and run it ??
I would see the performance of ups/fps on my system.

If someone can tell me where, I can do it. The save file is around 250MB, and the mods another 200MB or so.

I am not sure if it's allowed to distribute mods in this way, but it's easy to install the necessary ones from within the game, probably easier than downloading them.

The base, by my standards :), you have a very small one))
Without mods, pure vanilla gives out 10-11.1 UPS / FPS.
I don’t understand how to play with 3 FPS), I now have 40-50 on my base, and I think it’s not enough. And less than 30 is not an option to play at all.
But you can wander around your base :)

Coping with the low FPS is really quite difficult, but when one is 90% to achieving such a difficult objective you don't just give up :-)

I am sure there are larger factories around, but I have never managed to find any factories with such added complexity as Angel's mods that can sustainably achieve 20 RPMs. In the beginning I did copy several layouts, like for nuclear energy and balancers, but structures to handle larger volumes like for example the interchanges to bring in and distribute raw materials everywhere are things that I had not seen elsewhere.

fps \ ups = 4.0 \ 4.0
With mods, of course, you can play with such FPS,
vanilla is impossible)
By the way, RAM consumes 15 Gb - not very much.
The scale of the building is certainly impressive! )
It will be on which card to test the hardware in the future.
