this is my first post. I want to present you my 4-, 6- and 8-Belt Filter- and Excess-Splitters.
These designs use the new splitter mechanics of 0.16.17, so... thank you devs!
The only difference between the Filter- and Excess-Splitters is the configuration of the splitters.
Excess Splitter
Splits off excess items in case your output is backed up.
Example: You have 4 belts of iron leading to your green circuit production. However, if that green circuit production slows down you don't want the iron belts to back up, instead you want to redirect the excess iron to your steel smeltery.
To use this setup simply remove the filter item of all the splitters that have set iron as their filter item.
Filter Splitter
Splits off items that do not match the item set in the splitter's filter slot.
Example: Some wrong ores are delivered to your base because there are some copper ore tiles in an iron mine. Or maybe because there is a troll again who switched train station names in your unloading zone. Happened to me just two days ago. The separated items could then be put into an active provider chest.
To use this setup simply change the filter item to whatever item is supposed to be on the belt, preset is iron plates.

BlueprintsThe blueprint book contains each splitter design in a red and blue belt version and in an output-on-left-side and output-on-right-side version.
In total it holds 12 blueprints.
Note: The 2 splitters at the output of the 6-Belt-Splitter form a 3-to-1-balancer. If you don't care about balancing you can replace these to splitters by just a single one.
