Interesting idea, good to try some none-linear designs :)

- Can you 'tile' the plastic production so they share beacons? You would probably have to reroute the coal somehow
- For green circuits, if the cable plants are equally boosted you need 1:1, I guess you do 2:1 so you need fewer beacons for the cable plants?

From curiosity, is there any math on optimal beacon:assembler (and beacon:refinery/chemplant) ratios if the goal is the maximize output per module, assuming all plants have maxiumum prod3 modules and all beacons have 2xsp3 modules?

Well its complicated. First of all, you probably dont need more than two of this pieces. But this is not the main argument. Its complicated becouse the express belts are allready on its max throughput. The belt with coal has just small reserve. Its maybe possible to put two of them together if you manage a coal and p.g donation from one side to each unit.

Yes. I have a problem to have only one cable. When i allready have a solution, i realize that there is absolutely no option to bring energy into one damned inserter in the center even with substation :D. Anyway, 1:1 is not enough. 4 modules gives you 40% production boost only. You have to reach 50% boost for 1:1 cable per green satisfaction.

I made a number i called "beacon rating". You obtain rating as a sum of all "points" via this table

Assembly machine = 200 points
Rafinery = 100 points
Chem plants = 50 points
Furnace = 43 points
Rocket silo = 3790 points :)

So if your beacon support 4 assembly machines, it has 800 rating. And what this number mean? Value lesser then 100 means energy loss. Becon with 0 rating support nothing and cunsumes about 480kW. If you reach 100 points rating (which is pretty simple in case of assemblies) there is no extra benefit against just multiplying your factory. You simply should not build any beacon with lesser then 100 value (for example to support 2 furnaces only). Any value up to 100 points is your actual benefit in question of energy consumption per each beacon.

So boosting 2 chem plants with beacon is pretty useless. Copy paste of your design gives you the same result in question of energy savings. However its not uselles in question of compactness. One beacon take a less place then chem plants equivalents.

There is one interesting topic btw. Inserters can manipulate with modules in beacons. So i try to find if there is some benefit when you change a modules from blue to green if you want to switch into economical mode. I expect better results then just turn of the factory for a moment. However, my calulations says that turning off is still better in most of the examples...
