Warehouse Balancer in 6 tiles

Post by sparr »

I saw a lot of attempts on reddit and a few here for people to balance the contents of two warehouses (from Warehousing mod or PyMods or Bobs or any other pack with big storage buildings) one tile apart. Most of them used a lot of extra space. Here's my attempt to get as close as possible in just the gap between the warehouses, such as when they are being used as train buffers. It's pretty close, leaving one side with 0-23 more items than the other side.

If you swap the bottom combinator and inserter then you get more flexibility on power pole placement, but it makes the circuit harder to follow visually.

the cool thing is the gap size of 1, so the warehouses are aligned with wagons in a station.

but IMO the throughput of 27/s is very low. ( https://wiki.factorio.com/Inserters#Chest_to_chest ). if this is meant to be used as an alternative to a belt balancer. I'd move the combinators and place 4 or 6 inserters.

That is me assuming, that if one uses warehouses, the amounts to be moved, are usually significantly higher than in vanilla.

My assumption here is that the warehouses usually won't be very much out of balance. If the rest of your factory is appropriately balanced, adjacent containers will only ever be off by a few based on leftovers, rounding, random products, timing, etc.

26/sec is plenty if you're putting 1000/sec into two warehouses but they are off by 1%.
