Because you are not producing any in this network. Post a more useful screenshot or simply the save for further help.

I'm going to guess there are two power poles you thought were connected but aren't, separating the labs in a power network without a source.

So I still have an issue. Started another game and hopefully this is a better shot

Press Alt. You will then see that your boiler should be rotated 90° counterclockwise.

As you are starting out, I will recommend two great tutorials you can find in youtube:

- The first is by KoS (Katherine of Sky) who has a series that explains things very well and takes you all the way to a Megabase.
- The second is by Nilaus and titled Base in a Book that has some great starter designs. You might prefer to figure things out designs on your own, in which case you should NOT see this series, or you might prefer to get some initial designs pre-digested and later look into how to improve on them, in which case you will benefit from it greatly.

Also, the Factorio Wiki is invaluable at this stage of your game. You should absolutely look at it.

Thank you so much. I didn't know orientation of the boiler was the problem. I knew it had to be something simple.

Try using ALT mode, helps a lot when you are learning what goes where

Also, if you want to make a screenshot without glare, just press printscreen on your keyboard, then paste the result in a graphics application (MS Paint for instance). You can also edit it a bit that way.
