I have a hard time understanding them but I want to put out my idea and want you to verify it if I'm correct. So first I make a roboport and a couple of logistic robots that live in it, then I think you put out these smart receiver/requester chests (in the working area of the roboport? Not sure about this). Then I add some filters to the requester chest like perhaps iron plates and cooper plates and then the logistic robots will look in the receiver chests if there are any available. If there are it will deliver them to the requester chest?
So my thoughts on this are that, first I need a receiver stash with items thats near the roboport and then I have requester chests spread out where ever I might need them. Are they worth it considering the rather small area of operation and low carrying capacity? (IMO)
Logistic robots?
Re: Logistic robots?
In general you're right, but there is a lot more stuff.
Have you read that: https://forums.factorio.com/wiki/inde ... ic_network
I don't like the doc for that part even if most is written by me.
You can built many roboports and connect them to built a larger logistic area. The inner area is for the logistic bots, the inner and outer for the construction bots.
And what's not documented yet: the differences between active and passive provider chest is, that the passive are only delivered to requester chests, while the active are also delivered to storage chests.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Re: Logistic robots?
The main advantage of logistics bots is that they're extremely flexible. Some late game items need a lot of specific items and it's hard to make an efficient design to supply the assemblers. And then comes the load balancing needed because you want your other end-game items to also be produced. This is where bots come in. You build a provider chest, make it fill with base materials(do try to have separate provider chests per resource). And then add a requester chest next to the assembler. This way, you can have a really dense assembly area for high end items. All without too much hassle. Do try to keep the area small enough that bots won't go flying all over your factory to get the materials that are requested.
