Auto Saves

if i go on a mutliplayer world not hosted by me will the autosaves overlap my singleplayer world?

Yes. Also, the autosave settings (number of autosaves and interval) will be determined by the server/host.

It's in the settings under Options --> Other --> Singleplayer autosave interval.
For multiplayer it will ask you before starting the game if you're the host (the dialog where you set latency, ...).

If you're afraid of losing your autosaves: Just backup your autosaves as dedcicated save files ;)
