Character will not hold more than 100 steel

Been playing for 10 months with no problems. Yesterday my Character started being unable to hold more than 100 steel. When I transfer more steel to it the steel being transferred just disappears. Is this a known issue? I have searched but don't find anything. Thanks if you can help!

You probably have a limit in your inventory, and it's being moved into your character's trash, and carried off by bots when you have more than 100 steel.

That was the problem - Auto-trash got turned on somehow and I hadn't noticed it.
