I think I've figured out how to turn a space platform into an interplanetary "train." I set a requester chest next to the rocket silos with an inserter going into the silo, and request whatever I want through the chest. In the silo, I uncheck "automatic requests from space platforms."
On the other planet, I open the Cargo landing pod and add a request for these items.
What I can't figure out is how to send rocket fuel. It's an ingredient in rocket parts, so the inserter won't move it to rocket inventory. I guess the same would be true for blue circuits and low density structure. Is there an automated way to ship these items?
How to Ship Rocket Fuel to Another Planet
Re: How to Ship Rocket Fuel to Another Planet
The only way is to check "automatic requests from space platforms", add the request to the space platform, and put rocket fuel in the same logistics network as the rocket silos. (Or manually insert the rocket fuel into the rocket cargo)rockaday wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 9:42 pm I think I've figured out how to turn a space platform into an interplanetary "train." Re: How to Ship Rocket Fuel to Another Planet
Thanks!
Then the space platform will request it from either stop, right? I currently have it in the logistics network on both planets for convenience. Do you know if there's a way to make the request apply to only one planet?
Re: How to Ship Rocket Fuel to Another Planet
No it request it from one planet by default, this way it makes it easy to unload on another planet. It unload to every planet which has the tick box on the schedule, except those from which you request. Otherwise it would create a loop and that would be silly x)
It's unclear why you'd want to ship rocket fuel to the other planet if you have it in both for convenience , it's silly too x)
Re: How to Ship Rocket Fuel to Another Planet
Thanks, I'll give that a try!
On the downside, it does weigh a fair amount (in terms of rocket launches).
Because on Gleba I can make it incredibly cheaply/easily—essentially for free. Completely renewable resource, I don't have to establish new mining or drilling bases.

Re: How to Ship Rocket Fuel to Another Planet
mmm yeah ok, i thought rocket fuel is free and renewable in Nauvis too, with mining prod research and the rocket fuel prod research you only need a handful pumpjack
Re: How to Ship Rocket Fuel to Another Planet
Yeah , the default import planet for rocket fuel is Nauvis, if you want to import it from Gleba you'd have to specify it by removing Nauvis from the default source, but again, that may be of limited use given that rocket fuel is also infinite in Nauvis
Re: How to Ship Rocket Fuel to Another Planet
Maybe that's right -- I don't have rocket fuel prod research yet, and I'm at mining prod 5. I just established my first interplanetary shipping route, so I can finally start researching stuff with Agricultural science packs.
