Difference between remote driving in automatic mode and following train on map?
Can someone please explain the difference in functionality between remote driving a train in automatic mode and enabling the following of the the train in remote view withouth remotely driving it? In both modes, I can Ctrl+Click to add temporary stops, so I don't see the point of the former.

Haven't quite gotten stuck to necessitate needing this in my Space Age playthrough, but the main advantage is being able to maneuver trains around when sorting a gridlock. Mainly so you don't have to have a physical planets on which this is happening.

you can remote drive contrary to signaling if need be or without fuel, which automatic temporary train stop don't allow

I didn’t success at driving remotely a fuel-empty train. It stays stuck as long as I don’t put fuel in it. I can either drive it by entering it (and it is slow) ”physically”, or by adding fuel, which allows it to be driven remotely. Did I miss something?

It is correct that you can't drive remotely a train without fuel , i was wrong sorry

Remote driving is only usefull when in manual mode.
In automatic mode, you can't drive the train, locally or remotely. And requesting the train to go somewhere with ctrl+click is not manual driving. It’s only requesting temporary stop on the schedule.
Automatic driving checks for signals and track directions. If your network is not carefully signaled (which is not as simple as it looks), in certain cases your network can deadlock. It is especially true when executing interruptions which add some randomness in the traffic of your trains.
Example: an interruption is triggered somewhere in your network where no route exists for the next stop (because the stop could be in the wrong position for this train position). The train is stuck, and the next one is maybe blocking the path. Automatic driving is of no help for now.
With manual driving enabled you can, while being elsewhere, switch to remote driving those train and run them the wrong way, passing red signals, etc. Until your situation is clean enough to reactivate automatic driving. It won’t fix the root cause, but will help clean the deadlock.
It’s a fixing tool, not a casual one, IMHO. But like all tools, you’re free to use it the way you want.
