Biters dont hurt me

I have been playing on my freeplay world for 8+ hours and have found that biters don't hurt me, worms and spitters still hurt me but biters don't.

Can you please provide more than anecdotic evidence for your statements?
Screenshots, videos, logfiles, savefiles. Anything that could help verify and reproduce the issue that you see.

Also, can you guarantee that you are not playing with biters set to peaceful mode?

Small biters are pretty weak. If you wear heavy armor, their damage is almost zero.
