I want to move some chests from one save to another with all the contents (about 200 chests). Is this possible with the map editor?
I basically have them all placed in one chunk and would love if it were possible to just copy a chunk with all the chests in it or something similar.

As far as I know, that's not possible. Unless there's some kind of mod for that.
You're running into two problems here.. First is that save-games can not be edited, and the second is that the editor won't allow copying sections. (again, as far as I know).
You could consider creating a new map with the editor, then creating those chests of goods yourself (with the editor). Sure, 200 is a lot, but they're probably large batches of the same items..
I did the same thing a while ago. It was tedious, but worth it when you started on a crappy map and don't want to start all over again.. I actually blueprinted my entire base sofar, filled a massive load of chests and started from there. It just took a while to get back to bot/blueprint level..
