Don't know how to use a machine? Looking for efficient setups? Stuck in a mission?

Logistic chest and robot.

Post by elfend »

Greetings!

I would like to know if is there a mod that has chests or robots programable. I mean that, for example, I could give a number code (ranging from 1 to inf) to a chest (provider, logistic, or requester) then that chest only serves the correct pair of it with the same code(so provider number 1 gives to requester number 1 with robots in the current logistic zone).

If you know anything like this, please help me!

Thank you :)

If I understand correctly, you want to tie a specific provider chest to a specific requester chest so they only work together and not with other chests?
My guess is that, because it's such a specific 'small' thing, there's no mod for that...

Exactly. Maybe it's a small thing, but could open up a dozen of possibilities.

Bit of an odd one, would you mean that ANYTHING inserted in to provider chest A would always be forwarded to requester chest B? Sort of like an over-the-air belt system, though it would generally be more efficient to send the items directly to where they need to go rather than to an intermediate stop. Only reason for this I could think of is something like an inter-train transport, where trains merge inventories or something, but there are other better ways of achieving this.

Otherwise there's not much point, I would prefer to request a Priority on chests where items are delivered to the highest priority chest needing that item (also allowing negative priority which gives it a lower priority than default requesters).

So for example if you have coal distributed via logistics bots, you would want it delivered to your power stations first before allowing it to be used for plastic or something.

i tend to agree that priority settings for requester would be nice.
also i want a "garbage" chest. IE a chest that is where i can find the garbage i sent to the network.

Wouldn't that be a Storage Chest?

storage chests are filled by any and all provider chests.
i dont want that. i want anything i put in "trash" to go to a specific "trash" chest.
the problem with storage chests is that they get filled up with random stuff.

a passive requester chest would also work (as opposed to an active requester)

basically

active requester: highest priority, anything available goes here first.
passive requester: can OUTPUT to active requester chests, but otherwise will collect from active providers if no active requesters need items.
active provider: wants to empty itself. outputs to active requesters, then to passive requesters, then to any storage chest.
passive provider: provides to active requesters, then passive requesters.
storage chest: accepts any random stuff from anything.
garbage chest: accepts from garbage slots only.

basically, if i want to warehouse a huge amount of something, i either have to have direct output to that warehouse, or i have to move stuff to it, then prevent a loop where it provides stuff back to requesters that are feeding it. thats why a passive requester would work better. (its both in one)
