Mining productivity

Post by Hazard »

Does anybody know how much ore an electrical mining drill mines every minute under optimal conditions? It's not a stat shown in the production statistics, although consumption of raw ores is. Well, except for coal and wood used to fuel boilers and vehicles.

From the behaviour of ore smelters it looks like it's just below the 36 per minute mark that a steel or electric furnace can handle when going full out.

Eyeballing it at 30 per minute means that a single coal miner can supply 240kJ per minute, which translates to 4 kW of electrical power, which is really rather useful information when you are running on a coal fueled electrical network, so you may want to add it to the wiki.

for me, the speed of the game fluctuates because I'm playing on a laptop so giving me a "per second" reference point wouldn't really mean anything to me; unless I tracked my time in from save files or something. I'll have to try it on the sli box when cuda gets done to see if the game runs at a fairly constant speed.

we need a conversion table to convert in-game days to engine "ticks" to in-game seconds
possibly with a list of all the devices and their max input/output rates per unit.
that would be neat.

edit instead of bump:
Runs at a really constant speed even on my "biggest" saves on the badass sli rig. After i get a little better with the editor, I'll make a "stress test" map with a crazy large explored area, high amounts of bugs, and a massive belt and roboport base that just moves supplies into a consta-loop. That should close the book on performance requirements. And Please someone let me know if anything like this already exists.
